FLIT

If you'd like to know more about us, what great people we are and the exciting things that we do, click to download our 2006 PIREP (PIlot REPort, in aviation-ese.)
The WBAC has forged a thrilling museum exhibit that allows visitors to see all the gliders and Flyers the Wright brothers built in their quest for a practical flying machine and actually fly them. The Birth of Aviation Exhibit is amazingly flexible; we can custom-design a display to fit any space large enough to hold an airplane and a flight simulator. If you'd like to explore to possibility of bringing this adventure to a museum or special event near you, click to download the WRIGHT STUFFER, a pictorial catalog of our airplanes and artifacts. Or email wilbur@wright-brothers.org.
Our "Secret of Flight" program tours schools across America. And we've just reworked it to reflect the newest national scholastic benchmarks in science, technology, math, and social studies. If you'd like us to conduct presentations or workshops at your school, click to download our 2006 School Tour Packet. If you need an outline of or presentations or want to know what topics we cover, click for a map of the Scholastic Benchmarks. Want to schedule a visit? Email wilbur@wright-brothers.org.

This website is hosted by Donet, an imaginative and innovative Dayton, Ohio company that serves the world.

Undecided where to look first? May we suggest:
Wright AirplanesThe only place on the web where you can see ALL 19 types of aircraft that the Wright brothers produced!
Lift and DriftHold on to your scientific calculators, folks. Here's the amazing story behind the story of the 1901 Wright wind tunnel and balances.
Building and flying the 1899 Wright KiteGet yourself hands on with aviation history. We offer two sets of FREE plans, one for the historic kite and another for an easy-to-build "Not Quite Wright" kite.
Wright Airplane Model KitsSources for kits that you can buy to build a Wright Flyer and other Wright aircraft. Includes Dare's new laser-cut kits for radio-controlled and rubber band-powered 1903 Flyers!
The Real McCoyUp close and personal with the world's first practical aircraft, the 1905 Wright Flyer 3. Not a replica, this is one of aviation's most precious artifacts.
The Wright PhotosLooking for high-resolution, watermark-free historical photos of the Wright brothers to add visual excitement to a social studies report or a History Day presentation? Well, here they are and they are FREE.

New stuff:
We've found a couple of neat old hangars at Dahio Airport (identifier I44), just a few miles west of where the Wright brothers built their airplanes in Dayton, Ohio. If things go well, we'll upgrade these buildings to make an exhibition hall and -- for the first time ever -- we'll be more than a virtual museum! We'll be open to the public, able to invite you over for some hangar flying. This is just the first step in an ambitious program to create a larger "e-museum" of the Wright Brothers. If you'd like to know more, click to download or Flying Field Proposal. To comment on our plans, visit the Dayton Daily News Air City Blog.
The young folks at Russia (pronounced "Rooshee") Local School in Russia, Ohio have done it again. This May they unveiled their second Wright aircraft, a replica of the 1900 Wright Glider. Meanwhile, the State of Ohio Legislature sent commendations to each of the 31 kids that built and flew the 1902 Wright Glider in June 2005. And the eighth grade is well into their third airplane project -- a replica of the 1909 Wright-Clark Glider, the world's first trainer. Russia Local may just be the first school system ever to build their own air force!

The Wright Brothers Aeroplane Company and Museum of Pioneer Aviation is a forum for early aviation historians and enthusiasts, a living document that grows and evolves. We invite you to participate, ask questions, share information, and submit pages on early aviation topics. We especially need your help on those pages that are still under construction (and there are a lot of them -- it's a vast subject.)
